Government of Bangladesh’s Economic Relations Division (ERD), Ministry of Finance, endorsed its agreement on the project titled “Development of National Policy and Action Plan for Integrated Manure Management in Livestock System”. The concurrence of the implementation marks a significant milestone towards the development of the Opportunity for Practice Change in Bangladesh. In addition, the project has been receiving support from the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock (MoFL) who, together with the implementing Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI), recently led the formation of the Steering Committee. The first Steering Committee meeting took place in August, with the objective to raise awareness of the importance of integrated livestock manure management (ILMM) and share the first draft of the ILMM National Policy and Action Plan for Bangladesh with concerned stakeholders for their comments. In October, BLRI plans to organize a workshop to share knowledge on ILMM with policy actors from ministries, stakeholders, farmers and relevant agencies and organizations. The event also aims to support the drafting of the ILMM National Policy and Action Plan that will lead to policy amendments and drive practice changes.
